Custom CNC Machined Titanium Parts Manufacturer

Custom CNC machined titanium parts in Grade 2, Grade 5 Ti-6Al-4V and customer-specified alloys, with process planning, dimensional inspection, material traceability and production support.

A titanium component can pass dimensional inspection and still fail during assembly or service. Heat-damaged surfaces, smeared threads, uncontrolled material substitution, trapped burrs or poor handling can turn an expensive part into a production delay. Buyers need more than a machine shop that can cut titanium—they need a supplier that understands how the material, geometry, inspection and finishing requirements work together.
CUSTOM CNC MACHINED TITANIUM PARTS
Zync Precision manufactures non-standard titanium components from customer drawings and STEP models, from prototypes and engineering samples through repeat production. Before quotation, we review the alloy, part function, tolerance stack, thin walls, threads, surface requirements, inspection plan and documentation expectations.
TITANIUM GRADES WE MACHINE
Grade 2 Commercially Pure Titanium Grade 2 combines corrosion resistance, formability and moderate strength. It is often selected for chemical-processing, fluid-handling, marine and industrial components where corrosion performance matters.
Grade 5 Ti-6Al-4V Grade 5 is widely used when a high strength-to-weight ratio is required. Typical projects include structural components, automation hardware, precision housings, brackets, shafts and demanding industrial parts.
Customer-Specified Grades Other titanium grades can be evaluated against the drawing, material standard, condition and certification requirements. The exact alloy and condition should be defined in the RFQ. We do not substitute material without written customer approval.
WHY TITANIUM PARTS NEED EARLY DFM REVIEW
Titanium retains heat near the cutting zone and can react strongly to poor tooling or process conditions. Long tool engagement, weak workholding and repeated recutting can affect tool life, surface integrity and dimensional stability. An early review helps identify features that need a different machining sequence, support strategy or inspection method before production begins.
TYPICAL TITANIUM COMPONENTS
We support custom housings, brackets, flanges, valve and fluid-control components, shafts, bushings, fastener-related parts, sensor bodies, lightweight structural parts and precision components for industrial equipment, automation, energy, marine and other demanding applications.
CRITICAL RISKS WE REVIEW
Heat and surface integrity: Cutting parameters, tool condition and coolant delivery must be controlled to limit excess heat and surface damage.
Thin walls and distortion: Flexible features may move during machining or after unclamping. Roughing, stress relief requirements, finishing sequence and workholding should be planned around the final geometry.
Thread galling: Titanium threads can gall during assembly. Thread form, mating material, fit, lubricant or coating requirements should be stated clearly.
Burrs and intersecting holes: Cross-holes, slots and internal passages require a defined deburring and cleanliness plan.
Tool access and corner radii: Deep pockets and small internal radii may require long, fragile tools that increase cost and process risk.
Cosmetic handling: Finished titanium surfaces can be marked by uncontrolled contact, so visible zones and packaging requirements should be identified on the drawing.
TOLERANCES THAT SUPPORT FUNCTION WITHOUT ADDING RISK
Tight tolerances should be applied to features that control fit, alignment, sealing or motion. Applying the same tight tolerance to every surface can increase setups, inspection time and scrap risk without improving the assembly. Identify critical dimensions, datum references, geometric tolerances and whether requirements apply before or after finishing.
THREADS, SEALING SURFACES AND ASSEMBLY INTERFACES
For threaded titanium parts, provide the thread standard, class of fit, gauge requirement and mating material. For sealing or fluid interfaces, identify surface-finish limits, flatness, port geometry and leak-test requirements. If a customer-supplied mating part or special gauge controls acceptance, include that information with the RFQ.
SURFACE FINISHING AND POST-PROCESSING
Titanium components may require machining-only surfaces, bead blasting, polishing, passivation, anodizing, PVD coating or another specified treatment. Drawings should define masking, cosmetic zones, coating thickness, color expectations and dimensions that apply after finishing. Any special cleaning or contamination-control requirement should be included before quotation.
QUALITY CONTROL AND TRACEABILITY
Depending on the project, documentation can include: • Material certificates and heat-lot traceability • First article inspection • Dimensional inspection reports • CMM inspection for geometric requirements • Thread-gauge records • Surface-finish measurements • Coating or special-process certificates • Hardness or other customer-specified verification
State the required reports, record-retention period and acceptance standard in the RFQ so they are included in the manufacturing plan and quotation.
FROM PROTOTYPE TO REPEAT PRODUCTION
A prototype is valuable only if the process can transfer into stable production. Material source, revision, machining sequence, tooling, inspection frequency, special processes and packaging should remain controlled. For repeat orders, change control helps prevent unapproved changes to material, programs, machines, subcontractors or inspection methods.
