Custom CNC Machined POM & Delrin Parts Manufacturer
Custom CNC machined POM and Delrin parts for gears, bushings, guides and industrial equipment, with grade review, burr control, dimensional inspection and material traceability.
The Gear Passed Inspection—Then the Production Line Started Clicking
A POM gear can measure correctly and still become noisy after assembly. A precision guide may move smoothly during a bench test but bind when the mounting screws are tightened. A valve component can look clean yet fail because a soft burr remains at a cross-hole or sealing edge.
For manufacturers, the real question is not simply whether a supplier can machine Delrin or POM. It is whether the supplier understands how resin grade, internal stress, wall thickness, workholding, burr control and inspection method affect the part after it is installed. Zync Precision reviews these risks before machining so the quotation reflects the functional requirement—not just the visible geometry.
POM, Acetal and Delrin: Specify the Material You Actually Need
“Acetal” is the material family. POM homopolymer and POM copolymer can differ in stiffness, fatigue behavior, dimensional response, chemical resistance and centerline porosity. Delrin is a well-known homopolymer brand, but not every acetal sheet or rod is Delrin.
An accurate RFQ should state the required grade, color, approved brand when applicable, food-contact or regulatory requirement, and whether an equivalent material is allowed. If the drawing says only “POM,” the buyer and supplier should clarify the application before material is purchased.
Where CNC Machined POM Parts Commonly Fail
Thin Walls and Unbalanced Material Removal
Removing a large amount of stock from one side can release internal stress and change flatness, roundness or position. Thin rings, long guides and wide plates may require balanced roughing, intermediate rest periods or staged finishing.
Press Fits, Bearing Bores and Sliding Features
A tolerance cannot be reviewed in isolation. Shaft size, operating temperature, assembly method, load and required motion all affect the correct clearance. Copying a metal fit directly into POM may produce excessive interference or unpredictable assembly force.
Cross-Holes, Grooves and Soft Burrs
POM machines cleanly, but flexible burrs may remain where drilled holes intersect bores, at thread runouts or along narrow grooves. These burrs can block fluid flow, damage seals or create particles inside an assembly. Functional edges should be identified separately from general deburring notes.
Threads and Inserts
Thread size, engagement length, assembly torque and service cycles should be considered together. When metal inserts are required, define the insert type, installation method, orientation and pull-out expectation before quotation.
Typical Custom POM and Delrin Components
- Gears, sprockets, rollers and pulleys
- Bushings, sleeves, bearings and wear rings
- Sliding guides, wear strips and conveyor components
- Valve seats, manifolds and fluid-handling components
- Electrical insulators, spacers and mounting blocks
- Food-equipment parts made from specified compliant grades
- Precision plates, covers and machine replacement parts
We support prototypes, maintenance replacements and repeat production from customer drawings and 3D models. For reverse-engineered components, the mating parts, wear marks and operating clearance often reveal more than the dimensions of the used sample alone.
Inspection Must Reflect the Free-State Part
Flexible plastic parts can change shape under fixture pressure or measurement force. A bore measured while clamped may not represent the bore after the part is released. A wide plate can appear flat on a granite table while its mounting pattern causes distortion in the actual assembly.
For critical parts, the inspection plan may define free-state support, conditioning time, reference temperature and suitable measuring equipment. Priority should go to the dimensions that control assembly, motion, sealing and interchangeability. When requested at the RFQ stage, dimensional reports, first-piece records, material certificates and lot traceability can be linked to the production order.
Prototype the Assembly Risk Before Releasing Production
A useful prototype confirms more than shape. It should test assembly force, running clearance, noise, wear pattern, fastener distortion and performance at the expected temperature. If the first part needs hand fitting, the reason should be corrected before repeat production begins.
Once approved, consistent production depends on controlled material source, stable workholding, tool-condition management, defined deburring and repeatable inspection. Changes to resin grade, wall thickness, mating components or operating conditions should trigger a new manufacturability review.

Request a POM Manufacturability Review
Send your drawing to Zync Precision for a practical review of material grade, stress-relief risk, functional clearances, deburring and inspection. Our goal is to deliver a POM component that assembles and performs consistently in your equipment—not merely a part that matches a drawing at the inspection bench.
