Custom CNC Machined Bushings — Made to Your Drawing
Custom CNC machined bushings made to your drawings. Send your material, quantity, bore and outside-diameter tolerances, finishing, and inspection requirements for review and quotation.
Zync Precision manufactures custom CNC machined bushings to customer drawings for prototypes, small batches, and repeat production.
We do not sell standard catalogue bushings on this page. Each enquiry is reviewed according to the specified geometry, material, quantity, fits, surface condition, and inspection requirements.
Send us your 2D drawing or 3D model for a manufacturing review and quotation.
Custom Bushings Made to Your Drawing
Custom bushings may look simple, but their performance often depends on the relationship between the bore, outside diameter, length, flange face, and mating components.
We welcome drawing-based enquiries for configurations such as:
- Straight sleeve bushings.
- Flanged bushings.
- Stepped and shoulder bushings.
- Threaded bushings.
- Spacer sleeves and collars.
- Bushings with grooves, holes, or other drawing-specified features.
All configurations remain subject to drawing and process review.
The images on this page are generic illustrations. They do not show customer projects, stocked products, or guaranteed standard sizes.
Dimensions and Fits to Define
A quotation should identify the features that affect assembly and function. Depending on the application, these may include:
- Bore diameter and its mating shaft.
- Outside diameter and its mating housing.
- Overall length and flange thickness.
- Shoulder and locating-face positions.
- Clearance, transition, or interference-fit requirements.
- Concentricity, runout, or perpendicularity requirements.
- Internal or external threads.
- Lubrication grooves, cross-holes, or other special features.
- Surface roughness on functional areas.
If the bore and outside diameter form critical mating interfaces, mark them clearly on the drawing.
Descriptions such as “tight fit” or “smooth bore” can be interpreted differently. Whenever possible, use measurable drawing requirements and identify the finished condition in which the part will be accepted.
Material Options
Please specify the exact material grade and condition required by your design.
Materials submitted for review may include:
- Aluminum alloys.
- Stainless steels.
- Carbon and alloy steels.
- Brass and copper alloys.
- Selected engineering plastics.
Material suitability depends on the operating environment and component design. We do not select a replacement material without customer approval.
If your project requires material certificates, heat treatment, hardness verification, or material traceability, include that requirement in the RFQ.
Thin-Wall and Deformation Considerations
Thin-wall bushings can deform during clamping, machining, heat treatment, or finishing. The risk depends on the material, wall thickness, length, tolerance, and processing sequence.
When sending a thin-wall bushing enquiry, identify:
- The minimum wall thickness.
- The critical bore and outside-diameter tolerances.
- Any roundness or cylindricity requirements.
- The required inspection condition.
- Whether the part will be pressed into a housing.
- Whether dimensions apply before or after assembly.
Our engineering team will review the drawing before confirming the manufacturing approach. If a requirement presents a foreseeable manufacturing risk, it should be discussed before production rather than discovered during assembly.
Surface Finish and Secondary Processing
Where surface condition affects fit, sliding, sealing, wear, or appearance, specify it on the drawing.
Depending on the material and application, your enquiry may include:
- As-machined finish.
- Anodizing for suitable aluminum parts.
- Plating or other specified surface treatments.
- Passivation for applicable stainless-steel parts.
- Heat treatment or hardness requirements.
- Polishing or drawing-specified surface roughness.
Clearly state whether dimensions apply before or after finishing. Also identify masked or untreated surfaces where necessary.
The availability and suitability of each secondary process are confirmed during the project review.
Tolerances Reviewed for Each Part
We do not apply one advertised tolerance to every bushing.
Achievable tolerances depend on factors such as:
- Material and material condition.
- Bore diameter and depth.
- Wall thickness.
- Length-to-diameter relationship.
- Interrupted or asymmetric features.
- Heat treatment and surface finishing.
- Inspection method and measurement condition.
- Order quantity and required process consistency.
Send the required tolerances with the drawing. We will review them against the complete part rather than confirm a tolerance from one isolated dimension.
Any proposed change to the drawing remains subject to customer approval.
Inspection and Documentation
Inspection requirements should be agreed before production.
Depending on the project, customers may request:
- Recorded results for specified critical dimensions.
- First-article inspection.
- Material certificates.
- Surface-treatment documentation.
- An agreed sampling or full-inspection scope.
- Part and batch traceability.
- Special packaging or part identification.
Please mark the dimensions that require recorded results. Inspection methods and documentation availability are confirmed during quotation and order review.
Prototypes, Small Batches, and Repeat Production
We support enquiries for prototype evaluation, small-batch requirements, and repeat production.
For an accurate quotation, provide:
- Current order quantity.
- Expected repeat quantity, if known.
- Purpose of the initial batch.
- Required delivery date.
- Any first-article approval process.
- Packaging and identification requirements.
If you are comparing several quantity levels, ask us to quote them separately. Do not present an uncertain annual forecast as a firm commitment.
Minimum order requirements and lead time are confirmed after the drawing and production scope have been reviewed.
Confidential Drawings
We understand that custom bushing drawings may belong to a confidential customer programme or assembly.
You do not need to provide customer names or unrelated equipment information when requesting an initial review. However, the technical requirements needed to manufacture and inspect the component must be defined before production.
If an NDA is required, contact us before sending sensitive files so the appropriate arrangements can be discussed.
Manufacturing permission does not imply permission to use a customer’s drawing, component image, or project details for marketing.
What to Send for a Bushing Quote
Please provide as much of the following information as possible:
- 2D drawing and 3D model, if available.
- Part number and drawing revision.
- Exact material grade and condition.
- Order quantity.
- Bore and outside-diameter requirements.
- Critical fits and geometric tolerances.
- Surface roughness requirements.
- Heat treatment or surface finishing.
- Inspection and documentation requirements.
- Delivery destination and required date.
- Confidentiality or packaging requirements.
If a requirement is still undecided, identify it as an open question instead of leaving it to assumption.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do you manufacture standard-size bushings?
This page is for custom bushings manufactured to customer drawings. If you require a standard catalogue bushing, please send its complete specification so we can determine whether the request fits our manufacturing service.
Can you machine both the bore and outside diameter?
Yes, these are common features of turned bushings. The achievable relationship between them depends on the geometry, material, tolerances, and processing sequence. Send the complete drawing for review.
Can you manufacture flanged or stepped bushings?
Flanged, stepped, shoulder, sleeve, and threaded configurations can be submitted for review. Feasibility is confirmed according to the actual drawing.
Can you machine thin-wall bushings?
Thin-wall bushing enquiries are welcome, but deformation risk must be assessed for the specific material, dimensions, tolerance, and finishing process. Please identify the minimum wall thickness and critical features in your RFQ.
Can you recommend a fit between the bushing and shaft?
We can review the drawing and raise manufacturability questions, but the required fit depends on the assembly and operating conditions. Final design requirements and any changes must be approved by the customer’s responsible engineer.
Can I order prototypes before repeat production?
Yes. Tell us how many parts are required and what the prototype must validate. Include any first-article report or recorded dimensional results required for approval.
How much does a custom machined bushing cost?
Pricing depends on material, dimensions, quantity, tolerances, geometry, secondary processing, and inspection requirements. Send the current drawing and quantity so the complete scope can be reviewed.
Can you protect our drawings and project information?
If your project requires an NDA or controlled file sharing, contact us before submitting confidential documents. Only information necessary for review and manufacturing needs to be shared.
