Material Overview
17-4PH is a precipitation-hardening martensitic stainless steel. It combines high strength, hardness and corrosion resistance, and it is used for shafts, bushings, valve parts, aerospace components and medical instruments.
The material is usually machined in the annealed condition and then heat treated to the required condition, such as H900, H1025 or H1075. The heat treatment and the machining sequence affect distortion, dimensional stability and final properties.
What We Machine
We machine shafts, bushings, valve bodies, fittings, sensor housings, brackets and precision components in 17-4PH. Parts can be prototypes, low-volume production or repeat orders.
The review covers the condition, the heat treatment, the critical fits, the surface finish and the inspection method before quotation.
Tolerances and Inspection
Critical features are machined to the drawing and verified with CMM or the agreed method. Material certificates and heat-lot traceability are available. If the part is heat treated after machining, the final dimensions should be checked after heat treatment.
What to Specify
State the condition or heat treatment, the critical features, the tolerance, the surface finish and the inspection requirement. If the part will be heat treated after machining, tell the supplier so the process and the stock allowance can be planned.

Applications
We machine shafts, bushings, valve parts, sensor housings and instrument components for aerospace, medical and industrial applications.
17-4PH is usually machined in the annealed condition and heat treated afterward. Specify the final condition (H900, H1025, H1075 or another) and whether the supplier or the buyer performs the heat treatment.
FAQ
What condition should I specify?
17-4PH is usually machined in the annealed condition and heat treated afterward. Specify the final condition (H900, H1025, H1075 or another) and whether the supplier or the buyer performs the heat treatment.
Can you provide material certificates?
Yes. Material certificates, heat-lot traceability, FAI and CMM reports can be included in the RFQ.
What tolerances can you hold?
Tolerances are confirmed by feature. Critical features can be verified with CMM; a blanket tight tolerance is usually unnecessary and expensive.
